15 Texas Native Plant Landscape Designers

Are you looking for help designing your dream garden with Texas native plants? I often get asked for suggestions for Texas native plant landscapers, and I’m sharing my top recommendations below.

These professionals are knowledgeable about Texas native plants and use them regularly in their designs, but some also use non-native adaptive plants. If you want a design that exclusively utilizes Texas native plants, be sure to tell them that!

While I have organized these by where they are based, several of these companies offer virtual design services no matter where you are located in Texas. Not all of them offer installation services, but many do.

Austin Native Plant Landscape Designers

1) Native Son Gardens

This Austin-based landscape company is passionate about Texas native plants and makes them the centerpiece of their work. In addition to designing landscape beds and hardscapes, they can also help you do a lawn-to-meadow conversion!

2) Austin Native Landscaping

This landscape company utilizes a mix of Texas natives and non-native adaptive plants in their designs. They are a full-service company offering design, installation, hardscape, and drip irrigation solutions. They have a helpful plant library that shows some of the plants they use, many of which are Texas native plants.

3) Ten Eyck Landscape Architects

This landscape architect firm does high-end residential and commercial landscapes. Their work is incredible, so I’m including them here for inspiration, if nothing else! I love this Hill Country estate and landscape design full of Texas grasses that they created for the Holdsworth Center in Austin.

4) Ecosystem Regeneration Artisans

ERA is a native landscaping company based in San Marcos that specializes in green stormwater infrastructure. Their motto is “Slow the water down, spread the water out, sink the water in!”. ERA can perform a watershed analysis of your property and use the information to design rain gardens and other landscape features that help conserve water. They offer a variety of landscape design packages with 3D master plans.

5) Red Wheelbarrow Plants

Colleen Dieter of Red Wheelbarrow Plants offers landscape design services as well as in-person consults around Central Texas for those looking to DIY their landscapes.

6) Martin Byhower

Based in Georgetown, Martin Byhower helps Central Texas clients transform their yards into a haven for wildlife with native plants. His landscape services include consults and plant delivery.

Dallas Native Plant Landscapers

7) Native Gardeners

This Dallas-based nursery and native landscaping company specializes in Texas native plants (many of which you can buy from them online!). They offer an initial consult, 3D design renderings, and installation services. Check out their website for some examples of their designs.

8) Rooted In

Rooted In is a company in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that offers sustainable landscape design and coaching services in addition to their nursery. They have also worked on some cool projects featuring Texas native plants including the Benny J. Simpson Ecopark and City of McKinney pollinator garden.

9) Canon Outdoors

Jon Canon offers native plant landscape design, installation, and irrigation services at an affordable cost in the Dallas area.

10) Jean Robinson Design


Jean Robinson incorporates Texas native plants and sustainable practices into her residential and commercial designs. She can help you create a rain garden, pollinator garden, zeriscape garden, pocket prairie, and more! Jean has several examples of her hand-drawn designs available online.

11) Hoy Gardens

Luke Hoy creates unique gardens in San Antonio that utilize native and adaptive plants. His Instagram page features many of his projects.

12) Silvascapes

Michael Silva is a irrigation expert turned native plant enthusiast who is looking to help customers create drought-tolerant landscapes with Texas native plants. He is certified in native landscaping through the Native Plant Society of Texas.

Houston and Gulf Coast Native Landscaping Companies

13) Thomas Taylor Landscapes LLC

This landscape company provides design, installation, and maintenance services for ecological landscapes for greater Houston and southeast Texas. You can set up an initial 15 minute consult with Thomas to discuss your needs.

14) Wilescapes

Rebeca Wiles incorporates native plants and permaculture ideas into her design consultations. She provides online and in-person consults in the Houston area.

15) Go Native Landscaping

This native landscape design company located in Humble, Texas will help you attract more butterflies and bees to your yard with native plants. In addition to creating landscape designs, they also offer consultations and bird surveys.
